Building an Award-Winning Investor Education Experience for Urbanitae
As Urbanitae continued scaling its real estate crowdfunding platform in Spain, the team saw a major opportunity to use education as a strategic growth lever.
Real estate investing can be complex, especially for people who are newer to crowdfunding, portfolio diversification, risk, taxation, and the mechanics of real estate investment. Urbanitae recognized that prospective and current investors needed more than scattered educational resources. They needed a structured learning experience that could meet them where they were and help them move toward the next stage of their investment journey.
To bring that vision to life, Urbanitae partnered with Echtus to design and develop the first Urbanitae Academy: a scalable investor education experience built around practical learning, adaptive progression, and learner-specific pathways. The Academy has since supported thousands of learners, getting named the Best Training Initiative winner at the ASPRIMA-SIMA Awards 2026 and recognized among El Mundo’s 100 Best Ideas of 2026.
The Challenge
Urbanitae needed a way to educate a broad investor audience with very different levels of knowledge, confidence, and readiness.
Some learners were already investing through Urbanitae and wanted to deepen their understanding of more advanced investment topics so they could make more informed decisions and continue developing their portfolios. Others had recently signed up or were considering their first investment and needed foundational education to help them take that first step with more confidence. A third group was much earlier in the journey, with only a general interest in investing and a need for introductory concepts that could help them understand whether real estate crowdfunding was right for them.
The challenge was that each of these groups needed a different learning experience, but they also shared many of the same core learning needs. Urbanitae did not need three disconnected academies. It needed one cohesive education ecosystem that could serve multiple learner segments while still feeling relevant, efficient, and personalized.
The Academy also needed to feel connected to the investor journey itself. The goal was not simply to explain investment concepts. The goal was to help each learner build the knowledge, confidence, and readiness to take their next meaningful step, whether that meant understanding the basics, making a first investment, or growing a more sophisticated portfolio.
The Solution
Echtus worked with Urbanitae to design a holistic investor education curriculum that could support multiple learner personas through one scalable structure.
The first step was identifying the learner segments and mapping the common topics and competencies each group needed to develop. While the audiences had different levels of experience, the curriculum design process revealed meaningful overlap across the knowledge areas they needed, including real estate investment fundamentals, crowdfunding, portfolio diversification, investment risk, taxation, regulation, and more advanced investing concepts.
Rather than creating separate curricula for each persona, Echtus designed one integrated curriculum with adaptive learning built into the experience.
Each course, built and hosted on Kwantic.co, includes an optional pre-assessment that helps learners understand what they already know and where they may need additional support. Based on assessment results, learners receive recommendations for the lessons most relevant to them. This means a learner with existing investment knowledge does not have to sit through every piece of foundational content, while a newer learner can be guided toward the lessons that will help them build confidence from the ground up.
The Academy also includes assessment at the learning path level, helping learners identify which courses within a broader path are most applicable to their goals. This created a more personalized experience without fragmenting the curriculum or requiring Urbanitae to maintain completely separate learning programs for each audience.
The result was a true adaptive education experience: one cohesive Academy, designed to guide different types of investors through the learning that matters most for their current stage and next goal.
The Impact
Urbanitae Academy helped transform investor education from a content resource into a structured learning ecosystem.
The Academy now supports thousands of learners as they build knowledge in real estate investing and crowdfunding. It gives Urbanitae a scalable way to educate prospective investors, support new users, and help existing investors continue growing their knowledge and confidence over time.
The initiative contributed to:
clearer learning pathways for different investor segments
more personalized education through course-level and path-level assessments
more efficient learning experiences based on each user’s existing knowledge
stronger support for investor confidence, engagement, and progression
a scalable curriculum model that can expand alongside the Urbanitae platform
industry recognition as the Best Training Initiative winner at the ASPRIMA-SIMA Awards 2026 and El Mundo’s 100 Best Ideas of 2026
Key Takeaway
Urbanitae Academy shows how education can become a strategic part of the customer journey.
For platforms operating in complex or high-consideration markets, education does more than provide information. It helps users build confidence, understand value, reduce uncertainty, and take action.
By partnering with Echtus, Urbanitae created an Academy designed to meet learners where they are and help them move forward, whether they are exploring investing for the first time, preparing to make their first investment, or building a more advanced real estate portfolio. The result is an award-winning education experience that supports both investor growth and Urbanitae’s long-term platform growth.
